FUE Hair Transplant
The history of hair transplant in India dates back to 1950. However, with the advent of time and technology, new sophisticated and advanced hair transplant procedures like FUT followed by FUE came to the fore. FUE hair transplant is one of the widely opted hair transplant procedures for a varied number of reasons.
The dream of “no visible scar” is possible with the introduction of FUE hair transplant. The said procedure involves the extraction of individual grafts as individual follicle units in a two-step or three-step technique. Whereas the method of implantation by and large remains the same as traditional FUT.
FUE Hair Transplant Surgery Cost in India
The cost of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery in India varies. There is no fixed cost. There are several determinants that contribute to the final cost of the FUE procedure. Here are the factors that determine the cost:
- Number of Grafts: The extent of baldness determines the number of grafts required. If the baldness area is large, it will increase the cost significantly for the reason that more grafts will be required.
- Technique Used: FUE is generally more expensive than Follicular Unit Transplantation FUT. The reasons for the high cost are the time-consuming nature, minimal scarring, and meticulous procedure. If you opt for advanced variations like Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) or Bio-FUE, that will cost you even more. So, the technique you choose for the hair transplantation will also factor into determining the cost.
- Clinic Location: Clinic location is yet another factor. The cost is higher at places like Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore due to higher operational costs and demand. At the same time, comparatively smaller cities offer at lower rates.
- Surgeon Expertise: Expert surgeons and clinics with a strong reputation charge more as compared to those with average and low reputations. They have a track record and the name they have made in this field over the years to back their high costs.
- Technology and Facilities: Clinics using high-end equipment or offering additional services like PRP therapy or post-procedural care usually charge more. This also determines the final cost of FUE Hair Transplant.
Benefits of FUE Over FUT
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) are two primary hair transplant techniques, but FUE has certain advantages over FUT.
- FUE needs less manpower than FUT. One Doctor with one or two assistants is a good enough number to run the center quite easily.
- The procedure is less painful and less traumatic as well. Surgical experience is not essential. Graft preparation is minimal. Less equipment is needed. On the other hand, FUT is comparatively more traumatic and painful and requires more equipment.
- FUE is less invasive, with smaller wounds that heal quickly. It takes 7-10 days to heal. As a patient, you can resume normal activities within a few days. FUT involves stitches and a longer healing period. Since the incisions are longer, it takes 2-3 weeks to heal.
- FUE allows you to harvest follicles from different areas, including the scalp, beard, or body hair, making it suitable for patients with limited scalp donor hair. On the other hand, FUT relies solely on a strip from the scalp, thereby limiting the donor options.
- FUE allows precise placement of individual follicles, mimicking natural hair growth patterns and enabling targeted transplantation for smaller areas. FUT is effective for a larger area. It may be less precise for smaller areas and detailed work.
